IMDEA Food Institute headquarters are established in the CLAID Building of the Scientific Park of Madrid at the Campus of Cantoblanco, integrated at the Campus of International Excellence UAM-CSIC.

The Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies in Food (IMDEA Food Institute) was constituted as a non-profit organization in November 2006 within the framework of the IV Regional Plan for Scientific Research and Technological Innovation (IV PRICIT).

The IMDEA Food Institute is a research center focused on food, nutrition and health. Its activities are designed within three areas:
Area 1. Science. Contribution to advanced aspects of scientific knowledge of the relationship between Health Food. Area 2. Company. Contribution to economic development and competitiveness of the food industry through the design and validation of proven healthy products. Area 3. Society. Contribution to reducing health care costs and the welfare of the population through epidemiological studies on diet, health and nutrition education programs.

Cantoblanco Platform of Nutritional Genomics and Food “GENYAL” Platform for Genetics-based Dietary Intervention Studies

What we offer:
1.What is your area of expertise?The main line of research at IMDEA Food Institute is to study the interface between the nutritional environment and cellular and genetic processes, with the goal of arriving at a genetic understanding of how certain nutrients and bioactive components of foods affect the balance between health and disease by altering the expression of an individual’s genetic profile.
2.What type service is being offered? The Cantoblanco Platform of Nutritional Genomics and Food constitutes a major, high-level scientific tool to assist in examining how the genomes of individuals interact with the foods in their diets and these interact in turn with the genome, in order to determine the benefits or risks of given nutrients and food ingredients for individual health.
3.What can it be used for? The Nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics approach are used to analyze how certain nutrients and components of foods affect the human genome, altering gene expression or structure, with a beneficial effect on human health.
4.What are the main advantages of your solutions over other solutions? The platform can serve enterprises in the food sector that wish to carry out the dietary intervention studies necessary to develop products or to obtain approval of nutrition or health claims for food products from the European Food Safety Authority.
